Finley is our Senior Puppy Snuggler. When you take your new best friend home from Southern Water Dogs, you can rest assured that they have been held, petted, and loved from day one.
We are Jordan and Lauren West. Quintessential Hendersonville natives, we thrive on outdoor adventures with our two kids and dogs. Whether it’s hiking local trails, picnicking at waterfalls, or enjoying the local lakes and streams, we cherish quality family time in nature. Our dogs are always by our side, adding to the joy of our explorations. We are all about creating lasting memories and fostering a love for the great outdoors!
Following the lead of our Senior Puppy Snuggler, Boone is entrusted with providing our pups with love and care from the littlest hands we have available.
Our team here at Southern Water Dogs shares a love for comfort food, compelling stories, and of course, water. We get our inspiration from the happiness on our dogs’ faces, and we draw our passion from watching families welcome new furry family members into their homes. Life here is centered around family, you see, and we truly believe in working to live, not living to work. You’ll see that played out here at our breeding facility as we balance quality family time with hard work, and we give one another grace during tough times so that when the sun comes back out again, we can give our best to the job. Our puppies receive ‘round-the-clock care, and while sometimes it’s not easy, our work brings incredible fulfillment to our lives.

I was born and raised in Western North Carolina. I can’t think of a better place to spend my time than somewhere with all four seasons, and the most beautiful views regardless of what time of year it is!
I have an Associates Degree in Applied Science with a focus in Pharmacy Technology. My parents breed Labrador Retrievers and I have worked alongside them for 10+ years. I grew up with 13 adult dogs and anywhere from one to three litters of puppies at a time! That might sound absolutely wild (and you are correct), but I have always loved it.
I am extremely well versed in every aspect of the breeding, birthing, whelping, and raising of puppies. I learned so much growing up in my parents’ breeding program, and never would have thought I would get to use that knowledge in my future profession… but then I met Southern Water Dogs. Dogs are my passion and I get to do this every day!? *Pinch me, I must be dreaming*
As a gal who grew up in the South, not only are Southern traditions engraved in my soul (y’all know what I mean – fixin’ to, creek trompin’, catching lightning bugs, and eating BBQ with a side of banana pudding and peach pie), but I also have a deep love for oversized, the-furrier-the-better, best friend kind of dogs. Especially when they’ve got that wet dog smell. Okay, you got me, maybe not the wet dog smell, but definitely the best friend kind who adore being around water just as much as I do. Our family thrives with adventures around water, and even more so when our goldens can come along.
After our family adopted our first golden retriever, we were committed. This wasn’t just going to be memories our family was building, but we were going to help provide the opportunity for other families to experience life with a golden retriever as well. The maternal feelings of raising goldens from pup to adulthood is incredibly rewarding to me. I soak in all the puppy snuggles, the first time they open their eyes, the newborn photos, all of it (even the messy parts!). And speaking of family, we consider all of our dogs, their puppies, their owners, and even those who simply admire goldens from afar a part of the Southern Water Dogs family.
Southern Water Dogs isn’t just a breeder, it’s a lifestyle, and we aim to share that lifestyle with everyone. Whether you’re from the South, the North, Venus or Mars, we invite you to come along. Dive right in and join the fun!
I am a local of Hendersonville, a Law Enforcement Officer’s wife, and lovingly known as the “crazy” dog lady. After attending NC State University to study Animal Science, I left my job as a groomer to work for a veterinary hospital and eventually working for Blue Ridge Humane Society.
I founded Rott’n Dogs Training and Behavior after deciding to follow my passion for working with dogs and their owners. My driving force behind this venture is to help owners have the tools they need for their dogs to thrive in their homes, form a lifelong bond with their owner, and to avoid being rehomed to a shelter environment due to a lack of knowledge that we believe we can provide.
I graduated from the Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training and Behavior and am a Certified Professional VSA-DT Online. I teach owners how to communicate with their dogs and how to determine their dog’s motivation for learning, and we encourage their dogs to become more confident by allowing them to choose how they learn. We use positive reinforcement techniques and Fear Free practices.
I am a proud mom to eight wonderful dogs and two cats. I am a firm believer that there is always an opportunity to improve your dog’s quality of life and enhance your bond. My goal is to help people see the world through their dog’s eyes and develop clear lines of communication for you both.
