We currently offer stud services from one of our males in our breeding program. Moshe is a 80 pound gentle giant who absolutely adores people. He comes from a long line of Champion and Grand Champion AKC golden retrievers including his grandparents and his great-grandparents, and has a classic golden retriever look with a blocky head and stocky, muscular build. His fur is very dark blonde and he has a long, silky coat. Moshe was featured in Garden & Gun Magazine in 2021 for his adventures in the snow, and consistently wins over the hearts of our prospective puppy parents.
You can trust in happy and healthy pups from the genetics of our stud dogs. We screen for hereditary conditions and diseases occurring in golden retrievers through genetic and radiographic testing through Paw Print Genetics and the Orthopedic Foundation of America (OFA), and we only offer stud services and litters when our breeding stock passes these tests. Specifically for the golden retriever breed, we test for Degenerative Myelopathy, prcd-PRA, GR-PRA1, GR-PRA 2, Ichthyosis, NCL5, as well as OFA testing of the hips, elbows, heart and eyes.
It’s important that a contract is formed between the owner of the dam and the owner of the stud dog to ensure conditions are agreed upon before the breeding occurs.
At Southern Water Dogs, we offer one additional stud service at no charge if the first breeding doesn’t result in a positive pregnancy. Since our studs are proven before being offered as stud services, a negative pregnancy result typically means there was a problem with the breeding, the female’s cycle, or the female’s ability to get pregnant.
We’re pretty laid back here, and we are happy to work with you to foster the best results possible for your litter. A typical stud service looks like this:
